Alwar Urban, Vol. 3 -dance festival will occupy Jyväskylä City Theatre again
on 21-23 April 2016!

Alwar Urban -dance festival and the Film Center of Central Finland deliver Nordic dance films for the first time in Jyväskylä.

OFF/BALANCE: FREE FALL
Free Fall delighted sold out audiences at the
Old Factory 2013. Now the rambunctious performance
makes a comeback and conquers the city theatre!
Experiment, improvisation, acrobatics, humour and

TERHI KUOKKANEN, OFF/BALANCE
Dance artist Terhi Kuokkanen fulfills choreographs of
your wishes. Bring an idea or just yourself – together
you will create a dance piece in 20 minutes for you
or the choreographer. First 4 enrolled are gets selected.

TOMI PAASONEN: 2ND NATURE

Tomi Paasonen’s and Ilpo Väisänen’s (Pan Sonic)
contemporary art-work 2nd Nature is scifi-spirited
spectacle of abundance. This crooked
satire displays human being as a creature that shows
symptoms within artificial ecosystems.

INTERMISSION – QUEUING IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE
How was it to queu to disco in the 90’s? VIPs passing
the queu and the bouncer did not let you in with
tennis shoes. What happens in a discoqueu in 2016?
Bouncers from Teatterikone’s Musta taksi -collective.

IN SOCKS – URBAN AGE DISCO

Off/Balance & Jyväskylä City Theatre: At the Seats (PREMIERE)

Spectator/object, performer/hider – which are
you? City theatre’s actors move between the boundaries
of the audience and conventionalism in Off/Balance’s

Terhi Kuokkanen’s piece.
P-company: Celebration Issue
An ode to bodily expression and satisfactory.

SATURDAY 23.4.
11.00-13.00 SATURDAY-LOUNGE

SATURDAY-Lounge invites you to take breath, recharge
energy and to enjoy movement. With on ticket nutrition
for soul and body in the shape of three workshops
and a smoothie (smoothie included in the price).

Maximum 30 participants.
HANNA LIINOJA: DANCE THE WORLD
Throw yourself in midst of world music and find your inner
caveman or -woman with afrobeat, flamenco,
hiphop and other rhythm-music.
TEIJA HÄYRYNEN: SOMATIC DANCE
Surprises, playfulness, body’s own movement – somatic
dance frees from the boundaries of choreographed
routines and challenges the participant to
focus on presence, body senses and observation.
ELINA HÄYRYNEN, OFF/BALANCE:
SPRING WELFARE FOR BODY AND MIND
Festival-ending with reverting the body to standard
form by using strenghtening and opening techniques of Pilates. The workshop will finish in spring-like heart-opening relaxation exercise.
Bring your own mattress!

No previous experience on dance or Pilates required!
