Pop-up Atelier
2016


In the summer 2016 Off/Balance begins a project consisting of three parts with
choreographers Mikko Hyvönen and Veli Lehtovaara with Pop-up Atelier that is
established in the center of Jyväskylä. Atelier is a temporary artistic space, where
artists share communally their praxis, exercises, questions and ideas. Pop-up
Atelier aims to spontaneous interaction with the artists, local people and the
surroundings alike.


Public open door sessions include a Daily Empowering Morning Exercise and
Village Hour Discussions with artists. Through the store window the space is visibly
open at all times. Additionally unpredictable events during two weeks.


Hyvönen and Lehtovaara created Off/Balance’s debut piece On the Threshold in 2011. The work received many positive reviews and it was performed in ICE HOT – Nordic Dance Platform,
international nrw tanzmesse at Düsseldorf and Les Réperages -festival among other festivals.
